Today, Bangladesh Trade Union Representative Mr. Skander visited Sri Lanka with the
purpose of observing the current flood situation and meet the affected communities
residing along the Kelani River bank area. During his visit, he arrived on 10.15 am at the
FTUDC Office, where he was warmly welcomed by President and executive committee
and several prominent members of the organizations.
A detailed discussion was held regarding the severe impact of the recent floods, the
challenges faced by the families in the affected areas, and the immediate support required
to ensure their safety and welfare. Mr. Skander expressed his concern over the situation
and extended his willingness to explore possible avenues of assistance.
Following the meeting, FTUDC members accompanied Mr. Skander to several flood-
affected locations around Colombo city and the Kelani river bank community areas. He
personally met with a number of our union members and families who had been directly
impacted by the floods. His presence and interaction were greatly appreciated, as it
provided reassurance and highlighted the spirit of international solidarity.
The delegation later joined for a friendly lunch, which further strengthened the partnership
and mutual understanding between FTUDC and and each others.
Mr. Skander is scheduled to depart for Bangladesh tomorrow morning. FTUDC and the
Sri Lanka Pre-School Association extend their gratitude for his timely visit, empathy, and
continued support. In this event participated President Tilak, Priyangani, PSTA Sriya,
Samanpani, Kusum and Tharusi
